We all know that we need to clean our home, but sometimes it can feel like a chore. There are definitely ways you can make cleaning your house easier on yourself! Here are some tips for how to clean your home faster and more efficiently. The whole process will still take some time, but these tricks should help you kill those nasty germs and clear out your clutter a little more quickly.

Declutter As You Go

No matter how clean the house already is, give it a good ol’ once over before beginning to clean. This can be as simple as doing a quick sweep of cobwebs in the corners or inspecting door and window locks for any signs of trouble.

Clean one room at a time

If you’ve got your energy up, go ahead and tackle your home one section at a time. It’s much easier to stay motivated when you know how far along in the process you are. Not to mention it will be way more efficient than jumping around from task to task.

Make a schedule and stick to it

While you’re cleaning, keep the radio, television or laptop on for some background noise. You’ll barely notice how long you’ve been scrubbing if there is always something interesting to listen to!

Start with the bathroom

Bathrooms are one of those rooms that can just accumulate dirt and germs over time. We all know how important it is to sanitize this room, so get it out of the way early on when you have a bit more energy. Just remember how nice it will be to relax in a clean bathroom at night instead of walking into a steamy cloud filled with mildew!

Start high then go low

Always start cleaning from the high areas and work your way down. This means that you should start dusting the tops of doors, cabinets, and shelves before moving on to the floor. This ensures that you don’t have crumbs and dirt falling on your freshly dust floor!

Use the right cleaning tools

You don’t need to have all the latest cleaning gadgets, but it’s important to know how to use what you’ve got. For instance, when you’re cleaning the shower or bathtub, a good scrubber makes it easy to get rid of soap scum without too much elbow grease.

Be a multitasker

Doing laundry while cleaning is one of those things that can be pulled off quickly if you have an efficient system in place. For example, hang clothes to dry in the shower and then scrub around them while they’re wet. You can also run dishes under scalding hot water while you scrub toilets and sinks, but only when using washable sponges or gloves!

Be smart with how you use your body

If you’re not in the best of shape, it’s better to stay seated and scrub than to try and lean over the toilet. You can also opt for a lightweight vacuum or broom instead of lugging around heavy equipment. Aching muscles and joints after cleaning will surely spoil how good it feels when you’re done.

Stay motivated

Even with how fast you are working, cleaning will still be a long process. Give yourself pep talks when you get discouraged – how good will you feel when the house is sparkling again?

Reward yourself

After how long it takes to do every other part of your house, you will be glad to have a room or two that are done how you like them. Take the time to spoil yourself after how hard you worked to get there – enjoy a nice hot shower or plant your feet up for awhile while you read your favorite book.
